Sussex Inlet Cinema
In 1947 a weatherboard hall seating 300 people was erected to cater for a small local population which increased some tenfold in summer. In April the following year films were approved to screen, after a Mr Hutchens approached the hall committee to screen 16mm films each week. It is not clear if he began the operation, but unofficial sources claim that Phil Berner screened films in the hall in 1948 for holiday shows, then weekly up to the 1960s, later reverting to holiday operation until at least 1980. The projection room was upgraded for the installation of a 35 film projector, which was the industry standard for many decades, until Digital Projection took its place in 2015.
The Inlet Cinema is open all year, playing the latest films and entertaining customers from near and far.
